Faculty: 168 doctoral instructors, 340 professors, directing and teaching 25042 students including 7188 graduates (1080 for doctorate), 170 students from abroad and 4448 adult trainees.

Orientation: 14 schools and 32 departments covering economics, management, human science and literature, law and other subjects with science and engineering as key factor, that combines teaching with sci-tech research.

Establishment:
1.state key disciplines: computering mechanics, fine chemical engineering, machin making and coastal engineering;
2.key disciplines of state "211 projects": engineering scientific computering, fine chemical science and technology, coastal and offshore engineering, special processing and modern manufacturing technology, ship science and engineering, low-temperature plasma science and engineering, system analysis and business management information and 2 provincial key disciplines.
3.state key laboratories: sea coast and offshore engineering laboratory, "three beams" material modification laboratory, fine chemical engineering laboratory, industrial equipment structural analysis laboratory;
4.state-level technical centres: National vibration and intensity test centre, Nationwide vibration time effective technology popularization centre, foundry engineering research centre and gas-wave refrigeration research and popularization centre;
5.state training bases: China industrial science and technology management Dalian training centre run jointly by China and the U.S.A; China micro electronic technology application and development training centre; the state CAD application training network-northeast China CAD training centre;
