Sino-Russian Fair of Science and Technology Projects Transfer held in Dalian

The 2009 Sino-Russian Fair of Science and Technology Projects Transfer hosted by Dalian Bureau of Science and Technology was held in Dalian Jiaxin Hotel on the morning of August 21st. Liu Xiaoying, director-general of Dalian Bureau of Science and Technology attended and addressed the meeting. Academic members of Russian National Academy of Sciences introduced the present situation of the research and development of special steel in Russia, its manufacturing process, as well as such research projects as reusing waste steel. The chief officers of relevant S&T enterprises and research institutions participated in the fair.

Russia’s special steel research takes a leading position in the world. The Russia side hopes to take this fair as a crucial opportunity to negotiate cooperation with China and transfer the special steel technological achievements in China. Since the special steel production quality in China needs improving and cannot satisfy the demands of the market, the transfer of Russia’s special steel achievements in Dalian will be beneficial for the city’s research and development by way of introducing, digesting and re-innovating. And thus this will also further improve China’s R&D level of special steel. As the pace of rejuvenating the Old Industrial Base in Northeast China is speeding up, and the Plan for Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone has become a national strategy, Dalian will occupy a core position in the new round development, highlighting its leading function. Faced with the opportunity, Dalian Bureau of Science and Technology carries out international cooperation vigorously and absorbs international innovative resources extensively. This Sino-Russia promotion conference of projects in science and technology is aimed at setting up a research center of special steel in Dalian.
