Dalian State-Level International Technological Cooperation Base for Stem Cell Transplant and Regeneration Medicine Held the Open Ceremony

Sponsored by the International Cooperation Office of Ministry of Science and Technology and organized by Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau and Dalian Medical University, Dalian State-level International Technological Cooperation Base for Stem Cell Transplant and Regeneration Medicine held the open ceremony on April 27th in the No.1 Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Deputy Mayor Qu Xiaofei attended the ceremony and delivered his speech and International Cooperation Office director Jin Xiaoming and other office chiefs were present.
The Chinese-British Regeneration Medicine Application Research Center of the No.1 Affiliated Hospital founded in October 2008 is the first regeneration medicine cooperation project between China and Oxford University. Under the powerful support of Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, it obtained the approval for being as the Liaoning Stem Cell Clinical Application Research Center in February and State-level International Technological Cooperation Base for Stem Cell Transplant and Regeneration Medicine in April.
The research of stem cell and tissue engineering is an emerging science that has a rapid development in recent years. Its growth will provide new means for clinical treatment of diseases and achieve the remedy of nervous system diseases, liver diseases, skin injuries, and orthopedic and osteoarticular diseases by applying stem cell transplant technologies. The No.1 Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University is approved as the first hospital in Liaoning to have the State-level International Technological Cooperation Base, which will contribute to the optimization of medical resources in Liaoning and Dalian and increased proportion of medical technology and will be of significance to national health level improvement.
Recently, Dalian has attached great importance to international technological cooperation. It focuses on national and provincial priority work, promotes the construction of international cooperation and R & D institutes actively, makes great efforts to build a platform for international technological cooperation, and strengthens open innovation and external communications. The field for participation by universities and research institutes in major international scientific and technological research projects is being broadened and the role of companies in international scientific and technological cooperation as well as exchanges becomes increasingly active and reaches higher levels. At present, Dalian is home to seven state-level international technological cooperation bases.
Qu pointed out that the title of International Technological Cooperation Base conferred by Ministry of Science and Technology to the No.1 Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University was a benefit for us to conduct international technological cooperation and communications from multi channels, levels, and directions, increase the support on the construction of international technological cooperation bases, and improve the ability in technological innovation and global technological competition. He hoped that the cooperation base of the No.1 Affiliated Hospital would continue to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, expand multilateral cooperation, promote its original innovation capacity, establish a stem cell clinical research center with radiation functions and influence, obtain an internationally recognized breakthroughs, and improve the medical research level of Liaoning and Dalian in the field of stem cell medicine!
